Many EnWella clinics use an AI receptionist that picks up the phone 24/7. It is not pretending to be a person — it identifies itself in the first sentence — and it can usually book or reschedule a visit right then, without putting you on hold.

Book an appointment, reschedule or cancel one you already have, request a refill on a non-controlled medication, leave a message for your care team, ask about hours or address or parking, and start your intake forms. If your clinic has enabled it, the AI can also check whether your insurance is in-network.

Reaching a human

Say "I need to talk to a person" or "transfer me" at any point. During clinic hours you go straight to the front desk; after hours you go to the on-call provider for urgent matters or get a callback within one business day for non-urgent ones. There is no menu to navigate — just ask.

Urgent and emergency calls

If you mention chest pain, suicidal thoughts, severe bleeding, or any other emergency, the AI immediately reads you the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and tries to transfer you to an on-call clinician. For a true emergency, hang up and call 911 — that is always the fastest path.

Are calls recorded?

Calls are recorded for the clinic's quality and audit purposes; you hear that disclosed in the opening greeting. Recordings are stored encrypted in your medical record and only available to your care team — never shared with insurance, employer, or marketers.

Languages

English and Spanish are fully supported and the AI auto-detects which you start in. If your clinic has enabled additional languages (French, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Russian, Tagalog, Arabic), those work the same way. For other languages you will be offered a callback from a bilingual staff member.
