Most fields update instantly. A few (legal name, date of birth) require a one-line confirmation from the clinic — they will see it next time they open your chart, and you do not need to call to make it happen.

Legal name change · awaiting clinic confirmation

Submitted Apr 19. The clinic confirms within 1 business day; you do not need to do anything else.

Most fields update instantly. Legal name and date of birth go to the clinic for confirmation.

Account → Profile. Use Preferred name and pronouns to control how staff address you in chat, on visit screens, and on printed visit summaries — these never leave the clinic and are never sent to insurance. The legal name on your insurance card is what gets billed; the preferred name is what people use to talk to you.

Contact methods

Add as many phone numbers and email addresses as you want, then mark one of each as primary for reminders. Voice calls always go to the primary phone; texts go to whichever phone has SMS turned on. If you have a work and personal email, mark the personal one as primary so reminders don't sit unread until Monday.

Preferred pharmacy

Search by address, name, or NPI. The default is the closest in-network pharmacy that does e-prescribing. You can save more than one — handy if you split prescriptions between a 24-hour pharmacy for urgent meds and a mail-order one for maintenance medication. Your provider can route a specific prescription to a non-default pharmacy at write time without you changing the default.

Emergency contact and proxies

Add an emergency contact (name, relationship, phone) so the clinic can reach someone if they cannot reach you. If you want a family member to manage appointments or messages on your behalf, set them up as a proxy under Privacy & security → Linked accounts — proxies are different from emergency contacts and the patient (or their legal guardian) is always the one who grants access.

Edits to legal name or date of birth show up in the clinic's "needs review" queue and require a one-line confirmation from a staff member. This is intentional — those two fields are how every payer matches your record, so a typo in either silently breaks claims for months. Most clinics confirm within one business day; you do not need to do anything else after submitting.
