EnWella has a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for patients, the open standard AI assistants use to work with other systems. Once connected, an assistant can look up your record at one clinic and ask that clinic for an appointment. It acts as you, and can see nothing you could not see yourself in the portal. This article covers connecting, what the assistant sees, and how access ends; the companion reference lists every tool.
Connecting
In your assistant, add a remote MCP server with the address https://patient.mcp.enwella.com/mcp. The assistant opens EnWella in your browser, you sign in on your patient portal the way you normally do, and a consent page shows the name of the application asking for access and where you will be sent back to. Approve it and the assistant is connected. There is nothing to copy or paste, and no password is ever given to the assistant.
Choosing a clinic
The consent page lists the clinics where you are a patient. You pick one. The assistant then works only with your record at that clinic. If you are a patient at two clinics, connect the assistant once for each one you want it to use.
What it is allowed to do
Every tool runs through the same checks as the patient portal, and only ever on your own record. Assistant tools for your patient portal lists each tool with what it reads or changes and what it takes. An appointment request it sends is recorded under your name and waits for the clinic to answer.
What the assistant sees
The tools return your health information, such as visit details, medications, diagnoses, results, the text of visit notes, and what you owe. That information is sent to the assistant you connected and is handled under that assistant's own terms, not EnWella's. Only connect an assistant you trust with your health information. It cannot see anything the clinic has not released to you, such as draft notes.
Not medical advice
The server tells the assistant to treat your record as information for you to discuss with your care team, not as advice. An assistant can still be wrong. For a question about your care, message your care team; in an emergency call 911, or 988 for a mental health crisis.
How access ends
An assistant stays connected until you remove the connection in the assistant or your patient account at the clinic is deactivated. Deactivation ends the assistant's access on its very next request.
