The Patients page is your roster — every patient registered at your practice. This article covers search, filters, tags, and bulk actions.
The patients table
Each row shows patient name, MRN, date of birth, status, primary provider, and last visit. Click a name to open the chart. The table is paginated at 50 patients per page; use search or filters to narrow down.
Search
The search box matches name, MRN, email, phone, and date of birth. Type "03/15/1985" to find patients born that day. Search is fuzzy — "Jon Smith" finds "Jonathan Smith". Results appear as you type; no need to hit enter.
Filters
Click Filters to open the filter panel. Common filters: Status (active, inactive, deceased), Provider (my patients vs all), Tags (diabetes, high-risk), Last visit (date range), Insurance (by payer). Filters stack — you can filter by "my patients" AND "diabetes" AND "last visit > 90 days ago". Save frequent filter combos as a view (coming soon).
Tags
Tags are colored labels for grouping patients: clinical (diabetes, hypertension), operational (high-risk, no-show risk), or custom. Add tags from the patient chart or bulk-apply from the list. Tags are establishment-specific and auditable.
Bulk actions
Select multiple patients with the checkboxes, then choose an action: Add tag, Remove tag, Assign provider, Export list (CSV), Send broadcast message. Bulk actions require the manage_patients role. The action runs as a background job; you'll get a notification when it completes.
Empty states
If you see "No patients yet", your practice hasn't added any. Click Add patient to create the first one. If you see "No patients match your filters", clear the filters or adjust the criteria. The filter chips at the top show what's active; click the X to remove one.
