EnWella has a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, the open standard AI assistants use to work with other systems. Once connected, an assistant can look at your schedule, find open time, and book, move or cancel visits. It acts as you, in one clinic, with exactly the permissions your role has there. This article covers connecting, what the assistant can see, and how access ends.
Connecting
In your assistant, add a remote MCP server with the address https://enwella.com/mcp. The assistant opens EnWella in your browser, you sign in the way you normally do, and a consent page shows the name of the application asking for access and where you will be sent back to. Approve it and the assistant is connected. There is nothing to copy or paste, and no password or API key is ever given to the assistant.
Choosing which clinic it works in
The consent page lists your active memberships, one per clinic. You pick one. The assistant then works only in that clinic and only with the permissions your role has there. If you work at two clinics, connect the assistant once for each one you want it to use.
What it is allowed to do
Every tool runs through the same permission checks as the app. If your role cannot cancel visits in EnWella, the assistant cannot either, and it is told why in the same words you would see on a disabled button. Changes it makes are recorded in the audit log under your name, and the patient is notified of a booking, a move or a cancellation exactly as for one made in the app.
What the assistant sees
The tools return patient information: names, dates of birth, visit reasons and internal visit notes. That information is sent to the assistant you connected. Only connect an assistant your clinic is permitted to share patient information with.
How access ends
An assistant stays connected until you remove the connection in the assistant, it goes unused for 30 days, or your membership at the clinic is deactivated. Deactivating a membership ends the assistant's access on its very next request. Your clinic can also turn assistant access off, for every clinic or for one.
